Home is currently Sydney. Although I have been trying to convince Fiona we should buy a big van, fully deck it out and hit the road. I’m still working on it…

I came to cyclocross in 2014. After a big accident that took me out of riding (and life in general) for the best part of a year, I was looking to ride and race anything and everything. The local scene was hotting up and having been a mountain biker my whole career it seemed like something that would suit my skills. Not to mention the local race img_6372_1280was only 20mins from home and in the MTB off season. It was the perfect fit. My wife bought me my first CX bike and the rest is history.

Off the bike I spend my days working as a Financial Advisor. Its an industry I am very passionate about, and its great to be able to help people build their dreams.

I am most proud of the day I married my wife, Fiona. She has been by my side through everything, from my accident to racing my first CX World Championships….and now she is stuck with me!

I love cyclocross because its fun and its hard. It displays a riders strength AND skill, you need the combination of both to succeed in cyclocross, at the elite end there is no hiding if you dont have both. On the flip side though everyone is welcome to come and try their hand at cyclocross, and its great to see people improve from season to season…and just have fun in the mud.

Cyclocross in Australia is moving in the right direction. When compared to the rest of the world we definitely need to step up our course design and I think this will be possible if we can secure more private venues like fields of joy. Additionally the more people that race overseas and bring that experience back will not only improve the courses but also improve our competitiveness against the rest of the world.
