I came to cyclocross after spending many, many hours watching Garry race, playing chief bike washer and mechanic in Belgium and USA. Eventually I came around to the idea that it might actually be fun. My first few races I borrowed bikes and never rode other than racing, needless to say I probably finished last…but I really didn’t care because I was having so much fun. Fast forward to March 2016 and I decided to start training and committed to the National Series, originally I was going to ride masters however I was pushed to aim higher and enter elites. There has been some big progress from then until now and I am looking forward to the 2017 season.

Off the bike I drink a lot of coffee and I like to brunch, I’m sure that comes as no surprise…cycling and coffee do go hand in hand!

I am most proud of Garry! To watch him rise from strength to strength after a massive accident and then compete at the highest level of the sport, it sends shivers down my spine.

I love cyclocross because it has given me so many great opportunities, I have traveled the world and seen some amazing places and met some truly wonderful people. Some of my closest friends who I would otherwise never have met. And that’s pretty special to me.

Cyclocross in Australia is a growing sport full of really awesome people. We have an amazing cyclocross community everyone from dedicated athletes to punters to people who just love cross… and then we have those truly selfless people who give up a lot of their own time to organise and put together the races that we all love so much. Huge shout out to all of you, because the sport wouldn’t be where it is today without you!
